A rare and unforgettable rainforest experience found in only three places on Earth: Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. This activity involves trekking through dense mountain forests to observe endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, with fewer than 1,100 mountain gorillas left in the wild. Guided by expert rangers and trackers, visitors hike through challenging volcanic terrain for a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounter, spending a precious hour in the presence of a habituated gorilla family in protected conservation zones.
Gorilla trekking is possible year-round, but the dry seasons (June–September and December–February) offer firmer, less slippery trails, making the hike more manageable. The wet seasons (March–May and October–November) bring muddier conditions but fewer tourists and lower permit availability pressure, and trekking still proceeds as normal with appropriate gear.
