We had been looking for a safari company that would understand what we wanted from our trip rather than simply offering a standard itinerary. We chose Nature Link Safaris after our email conversations with Joseph Koluo, whose responses showed that he understood our interests and the pace we preferred. We were also impressed by the recommendation from a Kent State professor who had brought college students to Uganda for field study, as well as the fact that Nature Link Safaris is a Ugandan-owned company.
We spent 14 days with Nature Link Safaris, from 11–24 January 2010, touring five of Uganda’s national parks. Our driver and guide, Morris Masereka, made the experience particularly memorable. Having previously worked for ten years as a UWA ranger and guide, mainly in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Morris brought tremendous knowledge of Uganda’s wildlife, parks and local communities.
He had an exceptional eye for wildlife and birds, knew the back roads and excellent viewing locations, and seemed to know everyone connected with the parks. More importantly, he genuinely enjoyed nature and took great pleasure in helping us discover and appreciate what Uganda had to offer.
Morris also went beyond our planned itinerary, introducing us to local Ugandan cuisine at two eateries where we enjoyed dishes such as matoke, goat stew, posho and dodo. These unexpected experiences added an authentic and enriching dimension to our safari.
The itinerary was essentially exactly what we had requested, with the only surprises being pleasant ones. The price was competitive with other tour operators we had considered, and travelling privately gave us the freedom to adjust our schedule according to our interests and mood. We found this much more relaxing and rewarding than travelling as part of a large group.
One of the things we especially appreciated about Uganda was the opportunity to enjoy its incredible wildlife and natural beauty without being surrounded by large crowds of tourists.
We enthusiastically recommend Nature Link Safaris to anyone looking for a personalized, knowledgeable and authentic Uganda safari experience.
