Trip Overview
This 7-day Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari takes you through three of the country’s most rewarding parks in one continuous loop from Entebbe: Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It’s built for travelers who want both primate encounters in one trip, without the compressed pace of a shorter itinerary.
You’ll begin with a chimpanzee trek through Kibale’s tall, humid forest — widely regarded as Africa’s best location for viewing wild chimps — followed by a guided walk around the park’s crater lakes and a birding stop at Bigodi Wetland. From there, the route drops into Queen Elizabeth National Park for a dawn game drive across open savanna where elephant, buffalo, and Uganda kob are common, plus a Kazinga Channel boat cruise past dense pods of hippo.
The safari’s centerpiece is a full day in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park tracking a habituated mountain gorilla family through steep, tangled rainforest — an encounter capped at one hour once the group is located, but one that regularly runs 2 to 6 hours of trekking to reach. Along the way, you’ll pass through the Ishasha sector’s rare tree-climbing lions, tea plantation country, and cross the Equator on the return drive.
Nights are spent at a mix of lodges chosen for location over luxury — a crater lake viewpoint in Kibale, an escarpment lodge over the Kazinga Channel, and a forest-edge lodge at Bwindi.
